I was introuduced to this site and felt I liked what I saw:

When clicking around that site I came upon this:

I just wanted to know if any of you have seen this before, or have any knowledge about it? My first thougt was that I suddenly felt the Patagonia brand (among all others mentioned) was an option for me in the future.

As for myself, I get some good vibes seeing profitable companies caring a bit for the earth they make their profit from.

Patagonia got on board with this program very early on due to the ethics of the company founder/owner, Y. Chouinard. Been my experience that for the most part corporations that get involved in these kinds of efforts are those that are controlled by a single person rather than a board of directors. Kind of reinforces my belief that we humans tend to be better individually than as a group(present company of course excluded
). I wish more companies would join the program and a couple of additional percentage points would be nice as well, eh.
Mats, Patagonia would be a good company to contact about Skogen Forest.

The rods you guys are making today would cause Hiram, Edwards and the Paynes as well as Fred Devine to crap their pants then giggle like boys peeking into the girls' locker room as they strung them up and laid out the first casts.
I'm adding in the Patagonia 1% link at the bottom.
At one point, I had limited sponsorship by Patagonia, great company. I have many of their jackets, capilene garmets, board shorts, rash guards and sun clothing. Patagonia is a great company, something unravels or rips, you call them, they send you a new one with a envelope to send back the old.
They have a program that you can re-cycle your old Patagonia garmets with them.
Great company, you will not go wrong choosing Patagonia.

Well, Patagonia has always been in the picture when I´ve been looking for stuff because of their high quality, but now another dimension enters when I´m on the market for something. There are 800 companies on that list.
I´m not one that buy stuff all the time. I like to get a good item and then wear/use it out before I get something new (bamboo rods and old reels not included).
But that´s not really the point here. I just got those good vibes when I entered the 1 percent site. It felt like these guys hit the nails head. Making profit but giving something back to where it all comes from.
I´m actaully thinking of joining them. Maybe my elevator business won´t benefit from their logo, but at least I know I did something...

Yvon Chouinard started this program. The second company who joined up was Craig Matthews' Blue Ribbon Flies. The last I heard there are now 750 companies participating though none are publicly owned, all private. BTW, that's 1% of gross sales, not gross profit or net profit!
If you go to You Tube and do a search for Yvon Chouinard you will find some great speeches he has given to various groups. I think it's really worth the time. I know it opened up our minds to what can be done and how to do them. I don't know if the program is open to individuals but I'm going to look into it.

This is a great post/topic. I saw Y. Chouinard on a PBS program last year and it profiled the guy and what he stood for, how he came about and his company ethics.
I came away from the tube feeling totally in awe and impressed by the guy. Imagine how the world would be if the rest of the companies/products were of this nature/caliber...
I'm referring to our current affairs with this economy, it's bailout, where the initial $350 billion has gone and the enormity of some of the egos of many CEO's etc.
I'll go now....really...
That guys impressive!

Check out the web specials portion of their site often and you can get some pretty good deals as well.Right now they have waders, boots, and a few packs for little $$.And I must say that the capilene fuzz makes good dubbing too.And if you get a chance look at the film ''three dollar bridge'' from the felt soul media boys it explains the one percent philosophy from the two that founded it,pretty good flik!

I´ve done some more checking on Chouinard and I´m gettin more and more impressed. If he would aim for politic´s I´d vote for him.
As for the Feltsole Media guys, they also give me good vibes with their work. I´d like to get a link to show a clip or so from the "Three Dollar Bridge" film if it´s possible?
